  52. The File menu contains commands that you use to open, save and print images. In 
  53. addition, it also contains the command that you use to exit the application. 
  54.  
  55. The following commands appear in the File menu: 
  56.  
  57. Open...             Opens an existing image file. 
  58.  
  59. Save As...          Saves the current image using a new name. 
  60.  
  61. Print...            Prints the current image on the default printer. 
  62.  
  63. Exit                Quits this application.

  68. You can open an image that exists on any drive or in any directory by using the 
  69. Open... command. To open an image, do the following:

  71. o Select the File menu and choose the Open... command.

  73. A dialog box appears, showing you a list of files in the current directory.

  78. You use the Save As... command to name and save a new image.

  112. information about an image format.

  116. Copy                Puts the image on the clipboard.

  118. Paste               Retrieves an image from the clipboard.

  120. Image Info          Displays information about picture format and size.

  122. Convert to Gray     Converts a color image to a grayscale image.

  124. Horizontal mirror   Flips the image around the horizontal axis.

  126. Vertical mirror     Flips the image around the vertical axis.

  128. Rotate Left         Rotates the image by 90 degrees. 
  129.  
  130. Rotate Right        Rotates the image clockwise by 90 degrees.

  132. Invert              Inverts image colors.

  134. Resize              Changes the size of the dispayed image.

  136. Dither...           Provides halftone dithering algorithms.

  171. You can flip vertically an image by using the Vertical Mirror command. To flip

  179. You can rotate an image to the left by using the Rotate Left command. To rotate

  195. You can invert the colors of an image by using the Invert command. To invert 
  196. your image's colors, do the following:

  203. You can modify the size of your image by using the Resize command. To resize 
  204. your image do the following: 
  205.  
  206. o Select the Edit menu and choose the Resize command.

  208. o Choose the desired resizing factor.

  211. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 18. Dither ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
  212.  
  213. Dithering is necessary when an output device is not capable of representing all 
  214. the colors needed for displaying an image. Laser printers, for example, do 
  215. normally only support two colors (including the background color). A method is 
  216. needed for converting color images into monochrome bitmaps. Halftone dithering 
  217. algorithms do exactly that work. SHOW supports the following halftone dithering 
  218. algorithms: 
  219.  
  220. o Dithering with a constant threshold. 
  221.  
  222. o Dithering with random numbers. 
  223.  
  224. o Dithering with a matrix. 
  225.  
  226. o Dithering with a matrix and random numbers. 
  227.  
  228. o Dithering with one-dimensional error recovery. 
  229.  
  230. o Floyd-Steinberg dithering.

  235. The Window menu contains commands that you use to set the picture displaying 
  236. options and modify the program window behaviour. 
  237.  
  238. The following commands appear in the Window menu: 
  239.  
  240. Original size            If checked, your image will be displayed in its 
  241.                          original size. 
  242.  
  243. Window size              Modifies application window size. 
  244.  
  245. Adjust window size       If checked, the window will be stretched to the image 
  246.                          size. 
  247.  
  248. Aspect Ratio             If checked, the image's aspect ratio will be 
  249.                          preserved. 
  250.  
  251. Use Palette Manager      If ckecked, the physical color palette will be changed 
  252.                          each time you modify an image for enabling a better 
  253.                          color representation. 
  254.  
  255. Save options             Use this command to save the current settings. 
  256.  
  257.  
  258. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 20. Original Size ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  260. The images you load can be shown in their original size or stretched to the 
  261. window size. When you check the Original Size menu item, all images will get 
  262. their original size. To check or uncheck the Original Size menu item, do the 
  263. following: 
  264.  
  265. o Select the Edit menu and choose the Original Size menu item. 
  266.  
  267.

  270. You can change the size of the application window by using the Window Size 
  271. command. To change the size of the program window, do the following:

  273. o Select the Edit menu and choose the Window Size command.

  275. o Choose the desired window size. 
  276.  
  277. The application window will be adjusted to the selected size.

  282. When you load or modify an image, the application window size is normally 
  283. adjusted to the image size. You can modify this behaviour by unchecking the 
  284. Adjust Window Size menu item. To switch the Adjust Window Size menu item, do 
  285. the following: 
  286.  
  287. o Select the Edit menu and choose the Adjust Window Size command. 
  288.  
  289.  
  290. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 23. Aspect Ratio ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
  291.  
  292. When your Original Size menu item is unchecked, your image will be stretched to 
  293. the window size. Normally, this will modify the aspect ratio of your image and 
  294. your image will appear deformed. To avoid this, you can check the Aspect Ratio 
  295. menu item. To switch the Aspect Ratio menu item, do the following: 
  296.  
  297. o Select the Edit menu and choose the Aspect Ratio command.

  300. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 24. Use Palette Manager ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
  301.  
  302. When you load an image, it will normally be displayed using the physical color 
  303. palette used currently by your graphics adapter. However, the physical color 
  304. palette may be changed for improving the color representation quality. This can 
  305. be done by using palette manager functions. 
  306.  
  307. Check the Use Palette Manager menu item if you want to modify the physical 
  308. color palette each time you modify your image. 
  309.  
  310. Note:  This function should only be used when really necessary, because the 
  311. operating system cannot guarantee consistent colors in other windows. 
  312.  
  313.  
  314. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 25. Save options ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
  315.  
  316. Use Save options to store the current options. A file named SHOW.INI will be 
  317. created in your working directory. The next time you start this application 
  318. these same settings will be used.

  324. o Resize dialog box settings.
